hi I'm John Green magnet coordinator of Pacoima film media Performing Arts Magnet ordinary teachers we are one of the original magnets in the valley we were started in 1979 and as such we have a lot of experience as well as the depth of the programs we have things that other schools might not like a 700 seat professional theater we have a DMX lighting system in there we have those audio system and we consider this extraordinary space. and perform in the space and the stage for students learn to use all of the equipment I don't think there's another middle school that has what we have we are located on what I consider to be one of the most beautiful campuses in LA Define its enormous with lots of mature trees and grass it's a quiet Park like setting if you discount the sound it's several hundred middle school students make at 4 Ritchie Valens are School even recorded an album in our social hall magnets key is dance so you can take a dance class for your PE credit you have to dance studios as well as all kinds of different movement they do strengthen stanima trading so he they do still all the PE requirements Middle School is it schedule that you would have in the sixth grade in our magnet you would have English and history and math and science just like any middle school but the core classes would be infused with the scene of our magnet Performing Arts you could have danced every day you would have for electives throughout the course of the year you get 10 weeks of our film teacher 10 weeks 10 weeks in our computer lab getting typing skills and running animation and different kinds of programs we're fairly small magnet we only have 260 students that's the 6th 7th and 8th grade all together and in addition to being ordinator I work as their counselor which means I schedule their classes stay on top of their academics and I'm there for any problems they might be having personally or with other students or classes and teachers so I get to know your students really well over the course of the three years as to the teachers will have like mr. Hoffman still have for English as well as snow dr. Mandel teaches the gifted class in sixth grade might have him for English and history and then later they'll happen for musical theater so we have you're a big fish in a little pond at our school really get to know you so let's meet these teachers production groups which the Productions groups are musical theater Dance Theater the players drama group stage crew and Film Production were on fire we call our son production grip your sister Hostin first-year some of his camera on fire kids filming in the green hello I am mr. Hoskins right now we're going to meet the Pacoima Dance Theater teacher Miss Dolan hi my name is and I am the dance director for the Pacoima dance theater at Pacoima Middle School what makes our program so special if we do many different kinds of dance including ballet modern Jazz hip-hop Pat Glory Co little bit of everything and you get to choreograph your own dancing to give you the tools to do that even starting in sixth grade we have a culminating dance recital at the end of every semester and we bringing her Fest dancers to come and choreograph on our students currently we are working with versastyle dance company the hip hop dance company based here in Los Angeles I hope you come join us a bye thank you Miss Dolan I never going to hear from Miss Wingate who is in charge of the Pacoima players drama group as well as our stage you can see the kids performing on stage there and down below hi my name is Alyssa and I have the privilege of teaching both the drama program and the sea show program in the Middle School in drama students learn all kinds of performance skills we learn improvisation we learn pantomime you learn memorization skills we also get into Shakespeare and we also right many of our own scenes in our place true students learned how to manage everything that needs to happen behind the scenes for all of our shows as they manage all of the performers backstage they also have a professional Workshop where students learn how to build all of the steps in the process needed for every show that we perform and produce they also learn how to run and manage a custom audio Bose audio system they also learn how to run and manage to 176 hydraulic lighting system that we have in our professional and it's an exciting and inspiring I hope you come and take a look Linksys Wingate right here are The Proclaimers singers from show honor theater to see and they are led by dr.
