Elissa Wingate

Mrs. Wingate has been teaching English and Social studies to 6th graders here at PMS since 1997 and Drama for 6th, 7th, and 8th since 2017. She loves teaching at Pacoima, partly because she went to school here as a student back in the 1980's, but also because she is so often inspired by the resiliency and determination of her students. She is most concerned with the emotional welfare of her kids, and strives to create a nurturing and safe environment in the classroom, so that all people can feel valued and comfortable while learning, asking questions, making mistakes and being celebrated for their efforts to improve themselves.  She is a certified Mindfulness instructor, through the Mindful Life Program, and includes teaching mindfulness skills each day in all of her classes.

When Mrs. Wingate is not teaching, she can usually be found riding a horse, taking care of her dogs and cats, or spending time with family and friends.
