Gifted & Talented Education
Our goal in Gifted/Talented Programs is to identify gifted and talented students, including those from diverse racial, socioeconomic, linguistic, and cultural backgrounds, and provide high-quality differentiated opportunities for learning that meet students' unique abilities and talents.
Pacoima Middle School has developed a comprehensive GATE plan which includes District policies and procedures for identifying gifted and talented learners and providing specialized services, support, and program options to meet their academic and social-emotional needs. LAUSD identifies gifted and talented learners in seven categories, as well as offers a verification pathway for students who have not been assessed or identified.
Pacoima Middle School provides Honors classes for GATE identified students in 6th through 8th grades, and provides GATE services and support to ensure that all students have access to high-quality, rigorous, and engaging educational pathways that meet their individual needs and interests.
