Rachel Rodriguez, a science teacher from Pacoima Middle School, is one of 15 teachers selected by Hyland's out of 1600 applicants nationwide to be a part of “Team Hyland’s” for the 2018 Boston Marathon. Hyland’s Homeopathic is the official sponsor of the Boston marathon. They were looking for hard working, dedicated teachers who exemplify determination. According to Hyland's they selected teachers, “Those that inspire every day to join Team Hyland's on a journey to find their finish lines and ultimately to inspire us all.” Rachel will travel to Boston not only representing Pacoima Middle School but also the Students Run Los Angeles program as she is an alumnus of both the school and the SRLA program.

Rachel I'm a teacher and my run I've been a coach with srla for the past 11 weeks FMLA stands for students from Los Angeles which is a program where students the opportunity to train and the complete the Los Angeles Marathon this program was built for students like mine who are the sea student or lower those students who can tend to get in trouble who who need that goal setting mentorship one of my students parallel need to a to a jail Warden Warden you're keeping us online when you keep yelling at us to do the right thing and no keep going I used to run with a bullhorn I would run behind them by come on what I have my whistle I'll run behind them and start blowing the whistle I want to be that person in your head I want you to hear my voice when you're struggling and it's hard I want to be that person I am Let's Pretend this charger get this right behind me and she's going to want me to keep going that's the person I want to be lisinopril, Junior High in 78th and 9th grade so this is where I get off to go to my school and where I grew up running basically with my dad, is a small community with low income for a lot of times people see or hear the word Pacoima and it has a negative connotation there's also a lot of hard-working families and a lot of wonderful student after college I wanted to stay in about my my goal is to get back to Michael I found out the Pacoima had an open spot so I went and interviewed there and I've been here ever since it's definitely have challenges that they feel are insurmountable what is really does and what I do if we show them a pack of taking something so impossible and making it possible my My Philosophy for srla is to be the biggest cheerleader for these kids because some of them don't have that I will always be the biggest cheerleader I will always be your biggest fan I'll do whatever it takes to get them through but I want to do embossing cuz I want to show my shoes that anything is possible and that you can start off in a small citicorp appointment and can accomplish amazing things with your life have a baby
