hi everyone this is Petey the panther mystery Leah's can we have the honor to welcome you to the culmination ceremony for the class of 2020 congratulations to all the graduates we hope you enjoy the ceremony and now Stephanie Perez will lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance United States of America it's my pleasure to welcome parents guess staff members in class of 2022 are virtual 8th grade culmination ceremony remember August 10th 2017 when we first met it was your 6th grade orientation and it was a hot summer day we were jam packed into Social Hall about 400 adults and students sitting side by side in sweltering heat under the same roof breathing the same air and listening to Pacoima Middle School's using regular talk about what you needed to do so you could walk on the stage and put it in an 8th grade culmination ceremony not in my wildest dreams would I have ever imagined culmination ceremony would look like this who would have thought that there would come a time when we would learn to be together as a community to participate and celebrate these important events in our lives back in mid-march everything changed in a matter of days I feel that covid-19 has stolen some of the most precious Middle School moments and experiences from you and us but not everything that happened this negative we learn how to be flexible we learn how to make things work I was on raised how quickly all of you team and adapted to the new norms you didn't let distance learning baby you from your pad and you continue to do to your classes check your classes online turn in your assignments on schoology participated in your quizzes to kahoot it and collaborated with your peers on Google Docs and resume session Seaview awards were truly so after spring of challenging an amazing new experiences you are here now with us the adults and you're attending a virtual culmination ceremony on a Microsoft team platform and no matter how strange it is it is no less important than any other culmination ceremony today big day you're taking a huge baby step I say that because though this is a milestone in coming years you'll achieve so much more I'm sure you'll go high school and go to college and be on the bottom line is you can do anything you put your mind give yourself to credit your all headed in the right direction Garrett Pacoima our goal is to develop certain skill sets in you that will help you meet and cope with the demands of high school we want you to take the test 12 the school year go to lean academic classes but also in your electives after school programs and social activities we hope you appreciate what you have learned to Avid Cadets leadership engineering yearbook dance-drama Art band film stage crew in Pacoima saying this Productions before covid-19 you juggle classes after school activities rehearsals and performances all while keeping up good grades some of you met your goals of running marathons with the srl a team and playing intramural sports after school all these programs hopefully have taught you how to set goals make a plan B flexible face yourself work hard and finally achieve those goals we all know Middle School is a challenging time for everyone there's a lot going on physically emotionally socially and economically take a moment to reflect on the choices you have made to be here today realize that you have developed a sense of judgment and James essential skills that will help you for the rest of your lives there may have been times when you were angry the teacher or another student when you felt you weren't being heard or being treated fairly but you persevered and moved yourself pass these situations you learn how to self-regulate and self-managed these are major steps towards independence and meeting our goals are preparing you for your high school and now students as we celebrate this special occasion please don't forget to thank your parents and loved ones for their health guidance and sacrifices this day is important to you even more so to them just look around and see how proud they are of your achievement I also want to thank you for choosing Pacoima Middle School children and trusting them into our hands you have done a fine job of instilling many positive qualities in these youngsters and I applaud you for that finally on behalf of Pacoima Middle School administration and staff I want to thank you Panthers for making this very unique hulyer so enjoyable and successful I hope you all believe in yourself as much as we believe in you class of 2020 congratulations and good luck good evening my name is Eileen Oregon and it's a pleasure to welcome all of you who are watching Pacoima School 8th grade culmination ceremony I am honored to be here today and so proud of all my classmates were watching this evening and finally seeing the results of all their hard work all of this year truly deserve this date it's been a fun and memorable Jeffrey years of our lives in sixth grade we were so young and we're just coming into a new environment with older kids in every direction we glands I remember getting lost during passing. Having to memorize a seven digit PIN to get and taking classes with a bunch of different teachers we were unused to this lifestyle and it was a lot to take in but we Rose to the challenge when we entered 7th grade things got more challenging and require more study but we were older and wiser now I can save my 8th grade year has been the best perhaps you can say the same some of my favorite memories are making posters for Avid and having conversations with friends I remember going on field trips and sharing snacks on the bus spending time with my classmates was always fun and never boring those are my memories I hope you made great memories in Middle School to this school has taught me to believe in myself to staff has taught me that we can do our best if we give it our Best Shot our teachers are amazing and I will always remember them for motivating US during the hard times this year it must have been a challenge teaching students from home but they did it thank you teacher parents of course you also have a shoe Our Lives you are supposed to try harder but only because you want us to succeed and have a good future you have bought us this far and giving us the support we need along the way we are so grateful for all of you and now to the as we stand here today are Middle School years are coming to an end and a new chapter is opening up ahead of us though it will be hard separating from each other we will be taking a step closer to adulthood this may be a tough Journey but you must always strive for the best 1-day High School will come to an end and we will face another step in our journey the past to our future careers as we walk along this path it might help us to remember these words from Michael Josephson take pride in how far you've come have faith in how far you can go but don't forget to enjoy the journey thank you and congratulations I would now like to introduce the speaker Sebastian Estrada hello parents family style fender culminating class of 2020 congratulations Panthers this morning is dedicated to you your hard work and your accomplishments whether it's your first second or third again of a coyote mean 80 which is how to buy songs on how far away is ground from the beginning of our past and now it's crazy to me to believe that a little over two years ago we were sixth-graders and in a few months will be in high school the first day of school as memorable for everyone there a lot of shade anxieties intimidation for upperclassmen a new costume format I need to make a new friend personally I've been exposed to the harsh reality of bullying and that not everyone in this world is rainbows and Sunshine Band so glad I didn't eventually the bad came if it's good and they managed to stick up for myself I'm sure I'm not the only one who went through these difficult circumstances ultimately what matters is how we deal with her struggles and grow from them it's important to give credit where it's due I would like to thank the people who got it our family's friends and teachers thank you families for your callous sacrifices thank you friends for showing us how to laugh during the ups and downs and thank you teachers for working diligently to support us and giving us some motivational learn especially during this difficult time you played important roles in our lives on the road to Middle School to high school without all of you we wouldn't be here receiving this award today our time at the climate has helped pave the way to Our Success it's done and fond memories will hold a special place in her heart I feel I speak for everyone in the class of 2020 when I say we will miss something from the school I am more than proud to say I'll be attending Van Nuys High School next fall I know some of my friends will be going there as well but I also know that this the same story for everyone change is hard but the pros of high school will lb pecans will be learning how to drive get jobs and the lucky ones might be dating someone The Future Has Its just hold that we should all be up for it and I can't wait to see your friend on the cover of a pause magazine or another becoming President we are all capable of multiple accomplishments of the future has yet to bring and I'm excited to see where we all end up in the next chapter of Our Lives the rent is past me senior however. The stretch close only a small portion of realized and there's still so much more learning to do more mistakes to be made more achievements to reach more friends taking more arguments to have an overall more life to experience dr.
